Leveraxe is a new tool that works in an entirely different way than the conventional axes. Free rotation is fundamental to maximize the lever action that is the very key of the Leveraxe performance. After a few practise swings you’ll learn to relax your grip at the final stage of the swing. With this simple rule - swing and relax your grip - you’ll quickly start enjoying this novel way of splitting firewood. Please read the instructions and safety tips carefully before starting to enjoy this new innovational way of splitting firewood.

Leveraxe User Manual

The blade sinks only about an inch into the wood and then the blade spreads the wood about 2 - 3 inches. You can split over hard ground, e.g. rock, asphalt, because the blade does not pass through the wood. Don’t miss the target!
The leverage force of the LEVERAXE
The axe head goes 5 mm into the wood and immediately rotates to turn right.
The leverage force of the LEVERAXE
As the axe turns, the leverage rips off the firewood.
The leverage force of the LEVERAXE
Leverage force is much stronger than wedging force of traditional axes. The correct striking technique is important.

The shock absorber or safety hook stops axes kinetic energy safely.

Safety Instructions

Handle with care!

  • Keep out of reach of children and store in a safe place.
  • Contact can result injury. Improper use, flying wood pieces or missing your target may cause serious injury.
  • Hitting a hard object can damage the axe. Never use a damaged axe!
  • Never use your Leveraxe when fatigued or under the influence of any intoxicating substance or medication.

Leveraxe is designed to be used for splitting firewood only. Do not use your Leveraxe for anything else.

  • Do not strike another tool, nail or any other object but firewood.
  • Don’t hit Leveraxe with another tool.
  • Do not use Leveraxe for carpentry and don’t use the back of the axe as a striking tool.
  • Hold the Leveraxe always with two hands.
Always strike at left edge of the block, about 1.5-3 inces from the left edge. It’s important to let the Leveraxe to rotate in your grip, while simultaneously not losing your grip!

Use protective glasses and nonsticking work gloves.

Safety distance is 10 m (33 ft).

  • To avoid injuries, ensure that no people or animals are closer to the work area. Leveraxe functions in a way that may result pieces or shards of wood to fly sideways.
  • Oil the blade occasionally to prevent corrosion.

Awoid missing the target!

Storage Instructions

WOODEN HANDLE The unique attachment of the axe head to the handle ensure it does not come off the handle, even if the wooden axe handle dries out and the blade becomes loose. The axe head may become slightly loose on the handle if the axe has been inside in a dry place for a long time. This looseness goes away in a few days when the axe is placed outside in humid air. If necessary, the axe head may be soaked in hot water for a few hours, whereby the handle tightens up again. An axe with a wooden handle must be stored in a place where there is natural humidity.

COMPOSITE HANDLE Don´t storage in straight sunlight and don´t use under -20°C / -4°F. Otherwise it´s carefree.

BLADE Cover the blade after use and store it in a covered dry location. The paint will wear off from the parts that touch the wood, but this is normal. Oil the blade occasionally to prevent rust. Note that the blade may be very sharp, although Leveraxe also works when slightly dull. You can sharpen the blade with the grinding stone or wheel. If using a wheel, you can finish it off with grindstone.

LEVERAXE® warranty

The axe head has a 10 year warranty for the manufacturing defect only. Normal wear and tear as well as the damages caused by improper or careless use do not qualify for an axe replacement.

When splitting wood with the Leveraxe, it is highly recommended to build a chopping block with a log-holding tire set on top. It allows for dramatically increased speed and better ergonomics. It holds the logs together allowing for faster chopping. They won’t fall to ground. They are easy to move to transport or store at one move. For smaller woods, you can insert several into the tire at one time and make for a very efficient batch process.

With a traditional axe using the tire on top the chop would be awkward and dangerous. It does not stop on top of the log and therefore either the handle can hit back on your hands or even break when hitting other logs or the tire.

Chopping is made quicker and easier by constructing the copping block shown in the picture. You can get used tires at gas stations and tire shops and they don´t cost a thing!

Attaching the tire to the block is easy. Nail pieces of lumber along the top edge of the chopping block for support and screw the tire into the supports. With such a setup you can chop a great amount of wood in a short period of time. You will protect your back from continuous bending and save energy for chopping.

Don´t hold the log with your hand while chopping. This could result in losing a finger. Use a spike, as shown in the pictures, to hold smaller logs in place while chopping them. You could use a nail with its head removed. Push a small log into the nail. Split the log with the Levreaxe lever axe holding the handle of the axe with both hands. Using this technique, the axe won´t hit the nail and you won't become injured. Have a pleasant chopping experience with Leveraxe!
